Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Trudy Garvey has a strong background in training dogs that began in the search and rescue (SAR) world where the dog training can literally mean life or death for the humans. Trudy started her dog training career in 2010 when she joined a local volunteer canine-specialized search and rescue (SAR) team and started two of her dogs in the trailing discipline. She has since gone on to certify both dogs in trailing and Land HRD (cadaver). She credits these two dogs with changing her life, both personally and professionally, as she went from a 15-year career as an Executive Assistant to a full-time dog trainer.

During the process of training her own dogs, she discovered a passion for working with dogs and began to instruct others. Trudy worked at a local boarding and doggie daycare facility for two and a half years and gained valuable knowledge of dog behavior by observing dogs interacting on a daily basis during that time period. With the knowledge gained from training others plus numerous hours spent on independent study, both real world and book, Trudy successfully passed the exam to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) in the fall of 2016.

Besides being a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Trudy is an Assistant Instructor for the International Bloodhound Training Institute, an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, a certified Pet Tech Pet CPR & First Aid Instructor and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Through her business, Ruff World Training, LLC, she currently teaches AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, obedience, scent work, trick and Pet CPR & First Aid classes. She also works with individuals on dog behavior modification and aggression issues. Her mission is to teach people how to happily live with their dog.
